Today is 'World Maritime Day', 26 September.
World Maritime Day 2019 emphasizes on the importance of maritime security, marine environment and shipping safety.
2019 Theme- 'Empowering women in the maritime community'

 This year's theme provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 
According to an report, Women represent only 2% of world’s total seafarers. However, 94% of women seafarers are working in the cruise industry.
