Union Jal Shakti Ministry has discovered an old, dried-up river in Prayagraj(Allahabad). 

 Discovery was made during geophysical survey which covered the Prayagraj(Allahabad) and Kaushambi region in Uttar Pradesh.

 A remnant (Palaeochannel) of an inactive river shows was found about 26 km south of the current Ganga-Yamuna confluence at Prayagraj(Allahabad).

 New Discovery also found that the buried river was a link between Ganga and Yamuna rivers. It was about 4 km wide and 45km long river. 

 The remains of the river were found under(below) 15-meter-thick layer of the soil.
It has also given the air to the mythological Saraswati River actually existed.
